Book Review: Champion by Michelle Mankin

Rating Scale: ❤️ ❤️ ❤️ ❤️ ❤️

“Every moment I spent with her made me greedier for another.”

I just finished reading the book Champion by Author Michelle Mankin, which was phenomenal! This book was so good it will leave you wanting your own NFL player who adores you every day. Let’s also not ignore that this is an age-gap romance featuring an erotic dancer named Electra and a hot football player named Champion. Since age-gap romances are my jam, I knew I had to read this book from front to back!

We open up the book, and I am introduced to the hero, Champion, a worldwide football legend. He is a man who knows he has everything at his fingertips but is coming to realize that money and fame are not everything. So, Champion decides to join his teammates for a getaway and sees a beautiful woman dancing on the side of the road, which he is mesmerized by. He pulls over to the side of the road and introduces himself to Electra.

Electra is an erotic dancer taking a much-needed break from dancing to clear her mind. She meets Champion for the first time and an instant attraction forms. She always had a crush on the hot football player and decided to give in to the attraction.

“There was something between us, something worth exploring. But how was I going to convince her?”

Champion and Electra had an incredible connection during their night together. As they lay in each other’s arms, they made plans for the morning, excited to have breakfast together and continue exploring their profound connection.

Champion woke up the following morning, eagerly anticipating the moments he would spend with Electra, only to find her gone. He was left confused and devastated by her sudden departure, unable to understand why she would leave just a note.

Champion went days thinking about Electra, and his best friend Zack wanted him to get out of his funk. Zack invited Champion to a club where he got the shock of his life. Electra was on stage performing. From that moment on, their paths crossed once again. Champion approached Electra after her performance, with mixed emotions flooding him. They talked, laughed, and eventually made it back to each other.

Their relationship had its ups and downs, like any passionate connection, but they persevered. With time, they built a deeper understanding and trust, cherishing the love they had found in one another.

“I like you a lot too, Champion.”

Champion and Electra found their happily ever at the end of this book, which was breath of fresh air. With its intriguing characters and loveable storyline, it was no surprise that the book received a perfect rating of five hearts from me.

Book Blurb:

The winningest—not to mention most arrogant—quarterback in football history, Champion Valentine gets what he wants when and how he wants it, except when it involves a certain exotic dancer.

Electra Miller’s life is the opposite of charmed. One terrible tragic night, she lost everything that meant anything to her. Forced to abandon her dream, she works hard as the headliner at Fantasy. Stripping isn’t Juilliard, but it pays the rent and no one there asks uncomfortable questions about her past. Her secrets remain her own, even her crush on the blond, blue-eyed, and gorgeous Texas Lonestars QB.

Champion wants Electra.

Electra wants Champion just as badly, though she can never admit it. The secrets she keeps aren’t only her own.

What happens when a living legend who doesn’t know how to take no for an answer meets a beautiful dancer eighteen years younger than him who just can’t tell him yes?

You guessed it.

Game on.

One with an outcome that might change everything and not just for the two of them.

CHAMPION is a spicy, standalone football sports romance between two spirited equals.

Expect push and pull between our hero and heroine and m.a.j.o.r ignite your eReader fireworks. There are more layers of façade to peel away to get to the truth than hook and loop fasteners on a stripper’s costume.

There is also emotion that will tug on your heartstrings, humor that will make you smile, and a happy ending —pun intended—for nearly everyone. After all, desires must be fulfilled at a club called Fantasy.
